Packed Towers
Packed Towers are used in situations where a high removal efficiency is desired. Vapor flows up the tower, while liquid flows downwards. The packing has a high surface area to volume ratio, resulting in intimate contact between the liquid and gas phases.
Generally, the scrubbing liquid is a caustic solution, although other reagents can be used depending on the containment(s) being targeted for removal. The packing facilities efficient mass transfer into the liquid phase where the containments are neutralized via chemical reaction. These units can achieve high removal rates (>99.9%).
.The engineers at Best Environmental have sized hundreds of these units over the years for a range of contaminants. They are able to optimize the design based on your projected vapor loading rates and discharge requirements. From flows less than 10 SCFM to over 10,000 SCFM each unit is custom engineered for performance and reliability.
Additionally, the R&D team at Best Environmental are always exploring different packing geometries in order to maximize performance. Form rings to saddles, spheres to amorphous solids, each design has unique performance characteristics.
