Jet Venturis
Jet Venturis use a recirculating liquid to entrain a vapor stream. Normally oriented vertically, liquid sprays down into the top of the unit, creating an area of low pressure. This slight vacuum at the vapor inlet (draft) draws in the vapor without the need for a blower. As the gas liquid mixture pass through the throat (the narrowest part of the venturi), the intimate contact between the gas and liquid phases causes the contaminants to be scrubbed out. This is often enhanced by using a chemical reagent, such as caustic solution to increase the overall removal that can be achieved.
Venturis are good for bulk removal and often are coupled with a packed tower as a polishing step. As with all of its process equipment, Best Environmental offers both metallic and fiberglass options and can offer guidance for material selection based on the containments to be removed, expected operating temperature, and starting concentrations.
